Walpole Island resident faces drug, gun charges

A 58-year-old man from Walpole Island First Nation is facing multiple gun and drug trafficking charges.

Members of several police organizations and units, including Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit, Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad, and the Walpole Island Police Service worked together to make the arrest.

According to police, a search warrant was executed just after 11:15 a.m. on March 5.

While searching a Blackbird Lane address, officers confiscated guns, as well as suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

Police said the estimated value of the seizure was over $31,800.

Following a bail hearing, the Walpole Island man continues to be held in police custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
