Deep Southwest to appear on Canada's Got Talent

A country duo from Chatham-Kent will get to show off their talents to the entire country on Tuesday, March 18.

Meg and Pat Whalen, better known as Deep Southwest, will appear on the season premiere of Canada's Got Talent at 8 p.m. on CityTV.

The duo says the opportunity to audition came up thanks to their new musical comedy series.

"When we announced that we had our TV show partnership with Bell, Canada's Got Talent reached out to us and they invited us to audition for them," said Meg. "So we auditioned for them several times online. They kept kind of moulding our audition into something that they were interested in. Then finally, we went to Casino Rama to do out first audition for the taping in front of Shania Twain!"

They added that it was a fun experience, but a little overwhelming.

"Meg and I have been on stage before, but nothing could of prepared us for that moment when just, 100,000 lights, so many cameras, and Shania Twain is just looking you in the eyes," said Pat.

This is a busy week for the Whalen's. Their six-part series will premiere on Bell Fibe TV1 across Canada on Thursday, March 20, and some of the singles featured on the show will be released on Saturday, March 22.
