Man Arrested After Spitting on Police Building

A 29-year-old man is charged after allegedly spitting on the keypad to get into the Chatham-Kent police building in Blenheim.

The suspect was seen doing this on video surveillance at around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Roughly two hours later, police received a report of an unwanted person on Wellington Street. There, they found the same man.

The man was allegedly intoxicated despite having a court order prohibiting him from leaving his home when under the influence.

He was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and failing to comply with a release order.

The man was released with a court date of April 16, 2025.

Domestic Violence Arrest

A 32-year-old from Bothwell is charged with assault after a domestic dispute.

At around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a home in Chatham-Kent. It wasn't specified where in the municipality this happened.

Officers ended up arresting one person who was charged with spousal assault.

The accused was released with a future court date.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
