Keen-eyed citizen helps police find break-in suspect

An alert citizen is getting credit for an arrest following a break and enter in Chatham at the end of March.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested a 34-year-old Chatham man on Monday at a local residence after someone reported seeing a listing on social media marketplace for a tankless water heater that was similar to one that was stolen during a break-in between March 21 and March 25, 2025.

Police added the water heater was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.

The suspect was charged with possession of property obtained by crime.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
