CK to hold the year's first hazardous waste drop-off day

From chemicals to paint to batteries, CK residents will be able to get rid of household hazardous waste next week.

The area's first Household Hazardous Waste Day is Tuesday, April 8 at Veolia Environmental Services (141 Prosperity Way). The event runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Each vehicle can drop off up to 50 litres of waste material, which is clearly labelled in sealed containers and is not to be mixed together.

Acceptable items include:

• Pool chemicals

• Ammonia

• Bleach

• Pesticides

• Cleaning fluids (drain, oven)

• Gasoline

• Paints

• Batteries

• Lightbulbs

• E-Waste (computers, TVs, printers, cell phones)

• BBQ propane tanks

The municipality asks that when dropping off materials everyone stay inside the vehicle, staff will remove the items.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
