Dowie, Leardi, Pinsonneault returning as parliamentary assistants

Premier Doug Ford has named a supporting team for his third majority government.

Ford announced on Monday a team of parliamentary assistants, who will serve as support for cabinet members, and work to achieve the provincial government's goals.

Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie is the parliamentary assistant to the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.

Essex MPP Anthony Leardi will be the parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Health.

Leardi will also serve as Deputy Government House Leader.

Lambton—Kent—Middlesex MPP Steve Pinsonneault is the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Rural Affairs.

Pinsonneault was also named as one of the Deputy Government Whips.

Ford said the team's main objective is to strengthen Ontario's economy and fight against tariffs from U.S. President Donald Trump.

"Now more than ever, our team of parliamentary assistants is ready to support our government’s mandate to protect Ontario and build a stronger and more competitive economy that can withstand whatever comes our way," said Ford.

Another local MPP, Trevor Jones of Chatham-Kent-Leamington, is the new Minister of Agriculture.
