Several Tim Hortons in Chatham-Kent will be supporting the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) during this year's Smile Cookie Campaign.
From April 28 to May 4, all cookie sales at the Tim Hortons in Blenheim, Thamesville, Ridgetown, and Tilbury will be given to VON for its Ontario Student Nutrition Program (OSNP).
This program provides students with healthy food for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. It currently supports 42 schools across Chatham-Kent. This includes schools in Chatham, Thamesville, Ridgetown, Bothwell, Wheatley, Tilbury, Paincourt, Wallaceburg, Dresden, Blenheim, and Merlin.
"One in four children is currently at risk of arriving to school hungry, so this campaign and the support of our community are really impactful, helping to ensure children and youth are well-nourished and ready to learn," said Danielle Findlay, Supervisor of Community Relations for the Ontario Student Nutrition Program.
Each cookie will cost $2. The 2024 campaign saw $18.8 million raised for different charities and community groups across the country.
Over $129 million has been raised since the campaign was launched in 1996.
