The nationwide student vote was for a Conservative Party government.
According to CIVIX, the non-partisan charity that runs the Student Vote Canada program with Elections Canada, more than 900,000 students cast a ballot.
It was a change from the last two federal elections, when the student vote leaned left.
In the 2025 general election, the youth voted for a minority Conservative government, with the Liberal Party forming the official opposition. The New Democrats just managed to hold onto official party status.
The results are as follows:
• The Conservative Party won 165 seats and 36.4 per cent of the popular vote, forming a minority government. Pierre Poilievre won in the riding of Carleton.
• The Liberal Party won 145 seats and 31.7 per cent of the popular vote, forming the official opposition. Mark Carney won in the riding of Nepean.
• The Bloc Québecois won 18 seats and 2.1 per cent of the popular vote. Yves-François Blanchet won in the riding of Beloeil-Chambly.
• The NDP won 13 seats and 14.5 per cent of the popular vote. Jagmeet Singh lost in the riding of Burnaby South, BC.
• The Green Party won 2 seats and 7.5 per cent of the popular vote. Jonathan Pedneault lost in the riding of Outremont, and Elizabeth May won in Saanich-Gulf Islands.
Within the riding of Chatham-Kent-Leamington, students from 26 schools cast ballots.
Incumbent Dave Epp of the Conservative Party won with 1,568 votes.
Keith Pickard with the Liberals came in second with less than half of that number, he had 766 votes.
NDP candidate Seamus McInnis Fleming came in third with 363 votes. James Plunkett with the Green Party came in fourth with 356 votes. Trevor Lee with the People's Party of Canada trailed with 308 votes.
