High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

No one was hurt during a large fire in St. Clair Township.Shortly before 9 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters with the St. Clair Township Fire Department were called to Old River Road in Port Lambton. When they arrived, they found a fully involved garage fire. Firefighters were able to control the blaze before it spread to the attached residence.One person inside the home was assessed on scene for smoke inhalation but didn't need to go to hospital. One firefighter was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in Wallaceburg, but was later released.The extent of the damage is estimated to be around $100,000.
