Impaired motorcyclist ends up on the side of the road

A 45-year-old man from Thamesville is facing charges after he allegedly crashed a motorcycle while he was impaired.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the scene on Bloomfield Road shortly after 6:45 p.m. Thursday and learned that the motorcyclist had lost control and fell onto the gravel shoulder of the roadway.

The rider was not hurt.

Officers took him back to police headquarters for breath tests and he was issued a three-day license suspension before he was released without conditions.

Man arrested for shoplifting

A 54-year-old man from Tilbury is facing a pair of charges after a shoplifting incident on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

CK police said they responded to a report of a theft in progress over the noon-hour on Thursday, adding that the suspect is "known to the store from previous incidents" and was arrested by officers nearby.

He was charged with theft and possession of stolen property and was taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held for bail.
