CK Public Health reports additional measles exposure

The local public health unit is reporting another new measles exposure site.

The exposure happened on May 4 between 1 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

If you were there, CK Public Health warns that you may have been exposed to the virus.

The health unit maintains that the risk of contracting measles remains small, as most of the community has been vaccinated against the disease.

If you aren't up-to-date with your vaccinations or you're experiencing measles symptoms, contact CK Public Health at 519-352-7270 ext. 5902.

Symptoms can include a fever, runny nose, cough, drowsiness, irritability, and red eyes.

A red rash appears on the face 3 to 7 days after the start of the above symptoms and usually progresses down the body.
