High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a crash that resulted in serious injuries for an 88-year-old man from Chatham.CK police said they were called to the scene shortly before 7:30 a.m. Saturday after an SUV that was heading west on Richmond Street in Chatham collided with a vintage car that was heading south on Bloomfield Road.Officers said the collision took place in the middle of the intersection.The 27-year-old Windsor woman who was driving the SUV was taken to the hospital for treatment of what police described as "minor injuries" while the driver of the vintage vehicle was airlifted to a hospital.CK police are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact Constable Brandon McKeen at <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="mailto:brandonmc@chatham-kent.ca">brandonmc@chatham-kent.ca</a> or 519- 355-1092.
