High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Assault ChargeA Chatham man has been charged with assault after an argument turned physical.Chatham-Kent police alleged a 35-year-old man from Chatham confronted the 36-year-old female victim at a home in Chatham Wednesday night and an argument escalated into an assault.---Warrant ArrestChatham-Kent police have reacquainted themselves with a wanted man.Police said officers arrested a 43-year-old Blenheim man after he allegedly skipped court at the end of April on charges of possession of stolen property.He was charged in March 2025 after a stolen vehicle got stuck in the mud in rural Chatham, according to police.The vehicle was returned to the rightful owners, police added.The suspect was arrested Wednesday evening during a routine traffic stop.
