An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A 62-year-old from Leamington has died after being involved in a single-vehicle collision in Wheatley.The crash happened on Friday on Erie Street South between Hickson Road and Deer Run Road.The driver was taken to a nearby hospital, but passed away from their injuries.Members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team are investigating the collision.Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-310-1122 (TIPS).
