Fatal crash near Thamesville

A two-vehicle crash has claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman from Ridgetown.

Chatham-Kent police were called to the accident on Longwoods Road between Wallace Street and Pitt Road, just east of Thamesville, around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The Ridgetown woman, who was driving one of the vehicles, was taken to Four Counties Hospital in Newbury with serious injuries, and police say she later died from her injuries.

The other driver, a 29-year-old man from Thamesville, was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours while the Traffic Management Unit attended and investigated the scene. It has since reopened.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
