Restored piece of CK history returns to its rightful place

The dome is home at the Mary Webb Centre in Highgate.

The centre's original 107-year-old stained glass dome ceiling took two years to restore.

Treasurer Cheryl Littlejohn told CK News Today the dome was removed section by section in May 2023 and all 2,500 panes were lovingly repaired and restored by Magnolia Stained Glass Studio in Blenheim.

"Jeff Cofell from Blenheim and he previously restored all the vertical windows in that building as well. So, we were thrilled that we could get him as the one to restore the dome," said Littlejohn.

Magnolia said the project was a bit overwhelming because of its size, adding everyone is glad it's back home and lit.

Littlejohn is thanking the Trillium Foundation for its grant, the municipal and federal governments, and individuals who donated $23,000 to help restore the dome.
