Serious crash near Rodney sends one driver to hospital

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash just outside of Chatham-Kent that sent one person to the hospital.

OPP say two pickup trucks collided on Pioneer Line between Kerr Road and Furnival Road just outside of Rodney shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.

One of the drivers was taken to the hospital with undetermined injuries and the driver of the second vehicle was not hurt.

A section of Pioneer Line was closed for a few hours for the investigation and cleanup, but it reopened at around 11 p.m. Monday.

OPP Sergeant Ed Sanchuk also extended a thank-you to the witnesses and Good Samaritans who stopped by the scene of the crash to provide assistance.

Officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
