Five CK residents arrested in fentanyl bust

Chatham-Kent police have arrested and charged five local residents in connection with a drug trafficking investigation.

CK police said they executed two search warrants at residences in Chatham on Wednesday and seized 293 grams of fentanyl along with 51 grams of cocaine, and 1.5 grams of methamphetamine.

An estimated lethal dose of fentanyl is as little as 2 milligrams.

Police said they also seized some digital scales, some packaging material, and a large quantity of Canadian cash.

The street value of the drugs that were seized is estimated at around $63,790.

Officers arrested five people in connection with the case -- a 28-year-old Chatham-Kent woman, a 32-year-old Chatham woman, a 42-year-old Chatham man, a 52-year-old Chatham-Kent woman, and a 53-year-old Chatham man.

They are all facing drug possession charges. The 32-year-old woman and the 52-year-old woman are also facing drug trafficking charges.

The 32-year-old woman, the 42-year-old man, and the 52-year-old woman were all set to be held in custody pending bail hearings.

The 28-year-old woman and the 53-year-old man were later released with conditions and a future court date.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
