Fight leads to assault charges against Wallaceburg man

A 34-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly beating someone up.

Just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, Chatham-Kent police were called to an apartment complex on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

They found a man suffering from serious injuries.

He told police he was in his vehicle when he was approached by several people. After getting into a verbal dispute, he reportedly got out of his vehicle and that's when he was charged at by a single man.

After being hit by multiple punches, the man said he fell to the ground but continued to be attacked and threatened.

Police say video surveillance backed up the man's story and also identified his alleged attacker.

Roughly five hours later, police arrested a suspect and charged him with aggravated assault and uttering threats.

He's currently in police custody, awaiting a bail hearing.
