There will be some detours in Chatham and Dresden this week as the municipality removes some unused railway crossings.

Chatham-Kent Public Works will be removing the railway crossings and restoring the asphalt at the former WDC Railway crossings on Pioneer Line, Freedom Road, and Community Road.

The crossing on Pioneer Line was the first one scheduled to go, with work lasting from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Freedom Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, just north of Base Line.

Work on Community Road will take place Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The closure will start immediately north of Arnold Street. According to the municipality, access to properties on Community Road, Arnold Street and Jackson Street south of the railway crossing will be maintained at all times via Base Line.
