Fail to Remain Charges

Several charges have been laid against a Chatham driver after a senior on a mobility scooter was struck in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police alleged an SUV was existing a gas station parking lot on Grand Avenue West in Chatham on Tuesday just before 1 a.m. when it struck a mobility scooter that was traveling on the sidewalk.

Police say the 70-year-old Chatham man operating the scooter was knocked to the ground and the 50-year-old male driver failed to remain at the scene.

The incident was captured on CCTV cameras and officers were able to identify and locate the driver a short time later, according to police.

The accused is charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision, failing to report a collision, careless driving, and driving while under suspension.

Theft Charges

A Tilbury man has been arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

Chatham-Kent police alleged the 29-year-old suspect entered an unlocked vehicle in a rear lot on St. Clair Street in Chatham and took several items on Tuesday just after midnight.

Police alleged the man was arrested a short distance away with the stolen property.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
