Tractor trailer rollover on Highway 401 in CK leads to charges

Careless driving charges have been laid against a Brampton truck driver after a rollover on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the big rig left the highway, rolled onto its side, and came to rest in the centre median of Highway 401 just west of Bloomfield Road on Thursday.

The rollover caused traffic backups on the westbound lanes for hours.

The left lane of the 401 was closed from just after 9 a.m. until about 2 p.m. to remove the transport truck, and the on-ramp to the westbound 401 at Bloomfield Road was also closed for hours.

The OPP said the 35-year-old Brampton driver was not injured, but he faces careless driving charges and failure to ensure performance standards were met.
