Barnstormers' Groening named IBL Player of the Week

The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) has named a Chatham-Kent Barnstormer as the player of the week.

Andrew Groening took home the honour after going 5 for 11 last week while batting .455, scoring six times with two home runs, a double, and five runs batted in (RBI) to finish with a 1.591 OPS (on base percentage plus slugging percentage).

That brings the Blenheim native's season batting average for the season up to .438.

Teammate Evan Morrison was an honourable mention after batting .462 last week with a home run and four RBIs.

The Barnstormers are back in action on Tuesday as they head to Guelph to play the Royals at 7:30 p.m.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
