Chatham teen charged with stunt driving

An 18-year-old Chatham woman is facing a stunt driving charge after police say they spotted her going 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Chatham-Kent police said officers saw a vehicle going about 130 km/h on St. Clair Road in Chatham at 12:38 a.m. on Thursday. Because the vehicle was going so fast and was a significant distance away, the officers weren't able to catch up and had to request help from other units.

According to police, a coordinated effort was needed to stop the driver.

The teenager was arrested and charged. She also had her license suspended and her vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
