Saints blank Ottawa 74-0 in football

The St. Clair Saints Football team held the Ottawa Sooners scoreless for the second straight week with a 74-0 romp on Saturday.

The victory raises the Saints' OFC leading record to 3-0 at the start of the season.

Less than three minutes after the game started, St. Clair launched its barrage. Running back MJ Doyle-Marshall covered 29 yards for the opening major. Defensive Back Brandon then picked off an errant Sooners' pass and brought it back 60 yards. Defensive stop Keyanni Elliot was able to return the Ottawa punt back 75 yards for a Saints' touchdown.

After the first quarter, the score was 34-0.

Midway through the third quarter, Placekicker Joe Newton-Grain booted a 17-yard field goal, and Defensive Lineman Jaylin Burnett had two quarterback sacks as part of his four tackles in the game, while Defensive Back Nick Baeini had a 21-yard interception return.

The Saints are in London on Friday to face the Beefeaters at City Wide Sports Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
