Assault Charges
Assault charges have been laid against a Chatham woman after an alleged assault at an apartment on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.
According to Chatham-Kent police, a woman under the influence of controlled substances allegedly punched her male roommate and struck him with a garden hoe just after 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old suspect was charged with assault, assault with a weapon, mischief, and resisting arrest.

Warrant Arrest
A 35-year-old Chatham-Kent man wanted on outstanding warrants is facing multiple charges after allegedly attempting to get away from officers on patrol who recognized him.
Chatham-Kent police said the suspect was spotted on Friday evening and ran into a house on Princess Street North in Chatham, trying to avoid being arrested.
Police alleged the accused escaped through a window and ran away when officers pursued him, but he was eventually arrested.
He is charged with failing to comply with a probation order, trespassing at night, possession of stolen credit card data, fraud, use of stolen credit card data, three counts of theft, and three counts of possession of stolen property.

Rash of Break and Enters
Chatham-Kent police have been dealing with several break-ins lately.
Police said on Saturday night, officers found a man inside the fenced compound of a business on Queens Line in Chatham.
After using a drone and the canine unit, the 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested two hours later and charged with break and enter with intent.
On Sunday afternoon, officers arrested a 43-year-old Chatham man after he allegedly broke into a shed on Woods Street in Chatham.
He was also wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court.
A 60-year-old man was also arrested on Woods Street in Chatham on Sunday night after Chatham-Kent police reported officers arrived on scene and found the front door insecure with glass shattered on the floor, and alleged the suspect was still inside.
He was charged with break and enter and failing to comply with a release order.
Chatham-Kent police also responded to a break and enter at an apartment on St. Clair Street, near Paxton Drive, in Chatham on Tuesday night and arrested a woman.
Police said the 36-year-old woman from Chatham-Kent allegedly broke into the apartment by smashing a window with a brick and appeared to be under the influence of controlled substances.
