The Chatham Water Treatment Plant experienced an electrical issue.
Early this morning, response crews were dispatched after an electrical incident affected the main power feed.
There was also a failure with the backup generator, which is responsible for pumping water to the distribution system.
This failure caused a drop in the elevated water tower levels as well as a temporary reduction in water pressure throughout the distribution system.
Due to this, Chatham-Kent (CK) is asking all customers to conserve indoor and outdoor water usage and eliminate outdoor water use.
Although the generator issue has yet to be solved, a temporary resolution has been put in place, and the water pressure has stabilized.
The municipality is continuing to experience operational challenges and is actively working to fully address the issue.
