Four people now charged in Chatham murder case

Another man has been charged with first-degree murder in a Chatham murder case from 2024.

Shaquille Belle was in Chatham Superior Court on Monday to face the charge and pleaded not guilty.

Belle is now jointly accused with 45-year-old Jeffrey Davis of Chatham of murdering 27-year-old Louise Thomson of Milton last summer.

Belle told the court he is still trying to secure a lawyer.

Davis was previously charged with first-degree murder after Thomson was found dead at a home on William Street South in Chatham in June 2024.

Davis also pleaded not guilty on Monday.

Both men return to court on December 8, 2025, to attempt to schedule trial dates.

A four-week trial for Davis was tentatively set to begin with jury selection in July 2026.

A confirmation hearing for Davis' trial dates was to be held on Monday, but that was derailed because of the new joint charge for Belle.

Both men remain in custody.

Co-accused Sky-Linn Holden, 24, also remains in custody facing charges of first-degree murder and committing an indignity to a human body.

Co-accused David Lozon, 59, of Chatham, who was initially charged with first-degree murder, had that charge dropped in late September 2024 because the prosecution said there was not enough evidence and no reasonable prospect of conviction.

Lozon is currently out on bail. He is still charged with committing an indignity to a human body and accessory after the fact to murder.

All cases have publication bans preventing further information from being made public.
