Flash flooding warning issued for Chatham area

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) is warning that the Chatham area may experience flash flooding.

The SCRCA issued the warning on Wednesday due to the possibility of heavy rainfall in the forecast.

"Forecasts show that the most severe rainfall should stay south of the (Sydenham River) watershed, concentrated in the Chatham area," read a release from the conservation authority.

The SCRCA did explain that communities like Wallaceburg, Dresden, and Glencoe could be impacted, as storms can be unpredictable.

Area residents are advised to stay away from water sources and flooded areas.

The SCRCA plans to keep the warning active until 12 p.m. on Friday.
