Motorcycle crash claims life of Charing Cross senior

A 78-year-old Charing Cross man has died after his motorcycle collided with a piece of furniture that fell from a vehicle.

Chatham-Kent (CK) police were called to Talbot Trail at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday for reports of a single-vehicle collision.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA), where he later passed away.

Through an investigation, it was revealed that a piece of furniture had fallen off a vehicle. According to police, the man's motorcycle collided with the furniture, sending the motorcycle into the ditch, before it hit a tree.

The vehicle and the person driving it have been identified.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, with anyone with information asked to contact the police at 519-355-1092.
