Wheatley man facing assault charges after fight

A 65-year-old Wheatley man has been charged after getting into a fight with another man.

Just before 4 a.m. on Thursday, Chatham-Kent (CK) police received a report of a disturbance on Walker Avenue in Wheatley.

When officers arrived, they found a 45-year-old man from Leamington suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. According to police, the man needed medical help and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The man told police that he had been in a fight with another man.

Officers later found the suspect and arrested him. He's since been charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

Police did not specify what the man allegedly used to hit the victim.

The man remains in police custody, pending a bail hearing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
