Carney takes part in Middle East Peace Summit

Prime Minister Mark Carney is coming back to Canada after taking part in a Middle East Peace Summit in Egypt.

He was joined by several World Leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump. In a statement, Carney once again praised Trump for his work in creating a peace plan to end the war in Gaza.

"The Gaza Peace Summit is an historic moment, one that opens a new chapter of hope for Palestinians and Israelis. As we build on today’s progress, we must immediately turn our focus to the next steps of greater humanitarian relief, security, and development. The road to stability and peace remains long, but this is a vital first step," said Carney.

Carney also shared actions he believes need to be taken to build on the peace plan. They include humanitarian relief to Gaza and a temporary International Stabilization Force to ensure Hamas’ disarmament, facilitate Israeli withdrawal, and protect civilians.

He also affirmed his support for free and fair elections in Palestine.
