Enbridge Gas potentially closing Chatham office

Enbridge Gas is considering closing its office in Chatham.

In a statement, the company said it's exploring ways to better support its employees and operational needs, with the potential closure being an option.

"No final decisions have been made, and no changes are expected in the near term," read the statement.

Enbridge Gas has had an office in Chatham since 2019, after being formed through the merger between Enbridge Gas Distribution and Union Gas.

The company said no job cuts would happen if the office were to close.

"We continue to have approximately 1,000 employees based throughout Southwestern Ontario, and we remain committed to maintaining our strong presence in the region," Enbridge Gas explained in its statement.

Enbridge Gas added that natural gas service would continue as usual, and any current or future projects in Chatham-Kent would not be impacted.
