Cold and windy, but not rainy this Halloween

The rain should be gone by the time trick-or-treaters hit the streets tonight in Southwestern Ontario.

"By the time the kids head out to trick-or-treat, conditions look to be pretty dry, just some partly cloudy conditions," said Geoff Coulson, Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada.

But that doesn't mean it won't be cold.

"Seasonal temperatures, probably by the time the trick-or-treaters head out the door, we're looking at temperatures between 8 and 9 degrees for much of Southwestern Ontario, " added Coulson.

That's much colder than Halloween last year.

"Almost record-breaking in some cases, as we got up to daytime highs back on Halloween of 2024, around 22, 23 degrees," explained Coulson.

He recommends trick-or-treaters dress in layers to stay warm because the wind will make it feel even colder.

"Could be a bit of a wind from the west, not as strong as it will be earlier in the day," said Coulson. "Those winds will diminish somewhat by the time the trick-or-treaters head out, but there still could be a west wind of 15 to 20 km/hr, making things a little cooler as well."
