Smile Cookies raise $19K for Chatham Goodfellows

Tim Hortons presented the Chatham Goodfellows with a cheque for $19,723 following its Smile Cookie campaign.

“This is huge, this means a tremendous amount of support from Tim Hortons, it will help go towards our purchasing of our food and any of our toys and all the little incidentals that we have to get for the family for the baskets that we pack to give out to the family,” said Chatham Goodfellows President Kevin Shaw.

The campaign ran from November 17-23, with 100 per cent of proceeds going towards the local charity.

The 10 Chatham Tim Hortons locations participated in the fundraiser to help reach the organization's goal of ensuring no children go without a Christmas.

According to Shaw, over 1,000 families throughout Chatham-Kent are reliant on the organization's food and toy baskets.

“Last year we helped close to 1,500 different families. This year probably a little bit more with the economy the way it is,” said Shaw.

This donation comes after the Goodfellows had a successful Porchlight Campaign, which raised over $53,000 for the organization.
