Assault and Harassment Charges

A Chatham man is facing assault and criminal harassment charges.

Chatham-Kent (CK) police received a report at around 3 p.m. on Monday that a 19-year-old man from Chatham was continuing unwanted contact with a 19-year-old woman.

Investigators say that despite being told to stop contacting the victim, the man continued to call, message, and use other forms of communication.

As the investigation continued, police noted the suspect physically assaulted the woman in October 2025 after an argument escalated.

The man was arrested, but has since been released with a future court date.

Man Charged with Assault with a Weapon

CK police have charged a man after he allegedly used a casserole dish as a weapon.

At roughly 5:35 p.m. on Monday, CK police were called to an apartment lobby on Merritt Avenue.

Police allege that a 40-year-old man struck a 30-year-old man several times with a glass dish.

The victim was assessed by Emergency Medical Services but declined further medical treatment.

The 40-year-old man was arrested but released with a future court date.
