Chatham Man Arrested for Robbery

Robbery and assault charges have been laid against a man from Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police alleged the 28-year-old Chatham man stole items from a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham and pushed a staff member to the ground when they attempted to intervene.

Police said they found a man matching the suspect's description nearby on Baldoon Road in Chatham, but the man ran away.

According to police, the suspect was caught on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham shortly after and became combative and non-compliant with police.

He was Tasered as a result, to facilitate a safe arrest, police said.

Chatham Man Arrested for Arson

A 62-year-old Chatham man has been charged with arson following a fire at a car wash bay in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police alleged the suspect set the car wash bay on Grand Avenue East ablaze on Sunday night and had to be taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.

Break-and-Enter in Ridgetown

Chatham-Kent police need help finding whoever broke into a Ridgetown business compound.

Police alleged that someone broke into the compound on Spence Line in Ridgetown sometime over the past month by cutting a fence to enter, causing approximately $5,000 to $10,000 in damage.
