Assault

A 34-year-old man has been charged after an assault in Chatham.

Just after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, a man approached a 24-year-old woman walking on Gray Street and started yelling at her.

Police say the man knocked a hot beverage out of the woman's hand before striking her in the abdomen. The woman was not injured.

As a result, the man has been charged with assault.

He was later released with a future court date.

Blenheim Assault

After 8:30 p.m. Saturday evening, officers received a report of an assault at a home on Marlborough Street in Blenheim.

According to police, a 32-year-old man struck his 28-year-old roommate multiple times while he was in bed.

The victim was taken to the hospital for further care.

The accused was charged with assault. He was later released with a court date set for July 13.

Business Assault

Just after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to reports of a disturbance at a Richmond Street business.

Police say a man was involved in a verbal confrontation with a drive-thru employee, which turned physical at the window.

As a result, the accused is facing charges of assault and uttering death threats.

He was released with a court date of July 20.

Theft

Two Chatham men have been charged after they were allegedly caught stealing.

Just after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, an off-duty officer reported suspicious activity behind a Lorne Avenue alleyway.

According to police, the two suspects were unloading stolen property from a U-Haul truck.

Two 47-year-old men have been charged with theft over $5,000.

They were later released with future court dates.
