Update: BB gun leads to lockdowns in Blenheim

People in Blenheim can once again go outside after Chatham-Kent (CK) police issued lockdowns across the community.

Blenheim District High School, Harwich Raleigh Public School, and W.J. Baird Public School were placed in lockdown on Tuesday morning, while police asked the public to stay indoors while they investigated a potential threat.

Concerns were raised after a man was spotted carrying a gun. Police say the man was found with the firearm turning out to be a BB gun.

"The safety and well-being of students and staff remain the highest priority," a statement from the Lambton-Kent District School Board said. "School administrators are grateful for the swift response and guidance provided by Chatham-Kent Police Service, as well as the cooperation of students, staff, families, and the broader community."

Moving forward, people may notice some officers in the area as they properly investigate the situation.
