A wet weekend possible for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent

Portions of southwestern Ontario may be getting soaked as a wet system moves through this weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent, as a low-pressure system brings a rainmaker through the area Friday night and Saturday.

Periodic, heavy downpours are possible, with 30 to 50 millimetres of rain possible by Saturday night.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) has also issued a shoreline conditions statement for the Lake Erie shoreline and Pelee Island, in anticipation of wind gusts that could flirt with 60 kilometres per hour.
