Friday storm causes damage to area

A storm that blew through Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex on Friday caused some serious damage.

According to one Facebook user, the storm came in like a lion.

"The wind took so many tents, fences, and even trees down," said Elisha Banks.

Another Chatham resident took to Facebook about the pooling water.

"That was a lot of rain in a short time," they said. "Lacroix Street underpass wasn't a go for me. I had to turn around after watching how deep this was."

According to Ontario Storm Watch, many residents are reporting damage.

The organization said that the extreme winds were powerful, noting that flooding has also been reported.

Environment Canada issued a Tornado warning for Chatham-Kent early Friday evening.

Chatham Ribfest was shut down for the night due to storm damage, but has reopened this evening.
