A lifelong Ridgetown resident has put his name forward ahead of Chatham-Kent's (CK) upcoming election.
Albert Pilbeam is running to be one of two Ward 2 councillors, representing people in Ridgetown, Blenheim, Erieau, and other communities.
He told CK News Today that his decision to run stems from his desire to help others.
"I think it's important that we have people step forward and do their part, and that's what it kind of feels like to me, an opportune time to give back," said Pilbeam.
If elected, his biggest priority would be reviewing the municipality's spending.
"I'd be very excited to be in the inner circle, to have access to the budget and find out where these tax dollars are going and if we're getting the correct return on our investment," explained Pilbeam.
When asked why people should vote for him, Pilbeam was quick to mention that he believes each candidate running would be a great councillor. That being said, if he were to become a councillor, he'd spend the next four years proving everyone who voted for him right.
"If I'm fortunate enough to be elected, people would get someone who is accessible, open to listening, works hard, and always treats people with respect," added Pilbeam.
CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
