Police charge four men in separate intimate partner violence incidents

Chatham-Kent (CK) police had their hands full over the weekend.

Officers responded to four incidents of intimate partner violence that resulted in charges being laid.

On Saturday morning, police were called to an address in Tilbury because of a reported dispute between a 37-year-old Wheatley man and a woman.

Investigators determined that at one point during the incident the man threatened to chop off the woman's head.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats.

Two Chatham men were also arrested on Saturday.

In both cases, police said that the suspects choked a female victim.

Both men, aged 39 and 24, face a charge of assault causing bodily harm - choking.

Early Sunday morning, CK police were called to a Chatham home about another incident.

According to police, a 21-year-old man locked a woman inside the home, pinned her down to prevent her from leaving, and spit on her repeatedly.

The man was arrested and charged with forcible confinement and assault.

Reported break and enter leads to multiple charges

An alert citizen's report to police resulted in arrest.

Chatham-Kent police were contacted shortly after 6 a.m. on Sunday, for the report of a man coming out of a business that hadn't opened for the day.

When officers arrived at the McGregor Place address they spotted an open door that had been damaged.

Using the witnesses description, police said they found the suspect and attempted to arrest thim.

The 26-year-old allegedly resisted arrest, pushing the officers away.

While he didn't use it, police said a collapsible knife was found on the suspect during a search. This violated a court order that banned the man from having a weapon.

The man faces charges including breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, resisting a peace officer, and failure to comply with a probation order. He was held in police custody pending bail.
