Nomination period set to close for CK municipal election

You're running out of time to put your name forward for Chatham-Kent's (CK) upcoming municipal election.

The nomination period, which has been open since the start of May, officially closes on Friday at 2 p.m.

Along with getting 25 endorsement signatures, people must pay either $100 to run for one of 14 councillor positions or $200 to run for mayor.

So far, over 80 people have registered for the election, which is almost double the number from the 2022 election.

Wards 7 (northeast Chatham) and 5 (Wallaceburg) have the most candidates, 17 and 14, respectively. Six people are currently running for mayor.
