A local UPS driver is hoping to join the world of politics through Chatham-Kent's (CK) upcoming election.
Kyle Carter is running in Ward 3, with dreams of being the representative for people living in Thamesville, Bothwell, and other smaller communities.
He told CK News Today he's lived in Thamesville for about 15 years and he wants to help the community he's grown to love.
"I feel like I have a good chance as a young voice and fresh perspective to make the changes happen that we're after," said Carter.
Those changes include ensuring that the Bothwell Arena remains open, improving community safety, and updating local parks.
Carter would also like to add public transportation across the ward.
"There isn't a bus for Thamesville or Bothwell, which is extremely disappointing. We have senior citizens that need transportation to get to doctor's appointments or to get groceries or any simple errand," he explained.
When asked why people should vote for him, Carter was quick to mention that he plans to bring a different perspective to council.
"I'm younger, I'm energetic, I'm not afraid of confrontation. I have a deep love for this community, this ward, and I'm going to fight with everything that I have to protect it and to help upgrade it," he added.
CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
