One of the people running in CK's upcoming election is someone many may recognize from social media.
Ben Labadie, who posts videos about issues in the municipality, is running in Ward 6, hoping to be one of two representatives for people in northwest Chatham.
He told CK News Today that he posts videos to shine a light on key issues, and becoming a councillor would let him help find solutions.
"Having a seat at the table, I might be able to have a greater impact in representing the community," said Labadie.
He has spent much of the last few months going door-to-door in an attempt to see what residents want to see addressed. He explained that the two biggest issues raised were affordable living for seniors and the homeless crisis.
Labadie understands some people may be surprised taxes aren't top of mind, but to him, every issue is impacted by them.
"Everyone talks about taxes, but that's kind of baked into everything," he added.
When asked why people should vote for him, Labadie was quick to promise that he'll be a voice for everyone across CK.
"When they checkmark my name, I want them to know that's a vote for them and their voice," he explained.
CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
