Canadian Sustainable Energies Ltd. is attempting to set the record straight about its proposed facility in Chatham-Kent (CK).
"We understand that there has been considerable misunderstanding and speculation that the project proposed by Canadian Energies includes the creation of a data centre," a release from the company said. "We would like to be absolutely clear that a data centre is not part of the plan for our significant investment in Chatham-Kent."
Canadian Energies explained that some of the products expected to be manufactured in the facility could be used to support and power data centres, but that's not what is being proposed for CK.
"It is expected to be a major BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) manufacturing facility and will also house the production of other clean energy components such as solar Modules," the company said.
In an effort to keep the community up-to-date, with accurate information, Canadian Energies said it plans to hold a media event in the coming weeks to provide more details about the project.
Rory Ring, president and CEO of the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce, and CK Mayor Darrin Canniff have both expressed excitement about the potential investment, noting that it could create thousands of jobs and bring billions of dollars to the area.
