Maroons Focus On Goaltending

The first of two nights of prospects camp for the Chatham Maroons is in the books.

One of the biggest positions of need is in net, with both of last year's spots needing replacing. Goalie coach Bino Pereira says they brought eight goalies into the prospects camp.

"It's huge that we can maybe pull three or four, or whatever the number happens to be, to come to our main camp because obviously it's a big focus," says Pereira. "We need to fill the net with what we feel is going to be two tenders that are going to take us through the year." In his 12 years as goalie coach, Pereira says he's never had to fill both the starting and back-up goalie positions.

The camp wraps up tonight at Thames Campus Arena. The Maroons hit the ice in late August for their main camp.
