Local Teams Compete At OFSAA

A number of Chatham-Kent girls soccer teams had respectful showings at this years' provincial championships.

In AAA action, the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Hawks finished group play with a 3-0-1 record with wins over Humberside, Notre Dame, and St. Peter's. But that success wouldn't carry over in the playoffs, where they lost in the semi-finals to Father Leo Austin of Whitby.

In AAAA action, Ursuline College was unable to advance past group play, finishing with a 1-2 record. They're victory came in a 5-1 victory over Blessed Cardinal Newman C.S.S.

Wallaceburg was the host of the AA OFSAA Championships. Wallaceburg District Secondary School finished with two wins and a draw over the first two games. They were tied for second in their pool, but didn't qualify for the playoffs due to a tiebreaker.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
