Rainouts Cost Buxton Big Bucks

Officials at South Buxton Raceway are trying to figure out a way to make up for three costly rainouts at the track. The races at Buxton have been rained out three of the last five weekends, costing the track thousands of dollars in lost revenue.

"We're juggling ideas around right now," says South Buxton Raceway Promoter Sherry Lemesurier. "I'm not promising anything, but we're working on something and trying to figure it out."

Lemesurier adds they're not the only ones feeling the hit.

"I think racers have withdrawl symptoms," says Lemesurier with a chuckle. "If we give them enough notice ahead of time, some of them go to the 'states, but not all of them."

Organizers are hopeful racing will resume Saturday night at 7pm with the Southern Ontario Sprints joining South Buxton's five regular classes.
